The Niger State Government has approved the reopening of all public and private schools across the state, with effect from Monday, January 12, 2026, following a positive security assessment.
The decision was conveyed in a press statement issued on January 2, 2026, by the Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
According to the statement, the approval was granted by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago after extensive consultations with relevant security agencies, which confirmed that conditions are now conducive for the safe return of students and staff to schools.
The government assured parents, guardians, and school administrators that it remains committed to the safety of learners and will continue to monitor the security situation closely.
