The founder of Heaven’s Gateway Ministries, Apostle Chikere Nwafor, is facing troubling allegations from her former husband, Martin Ogbulu, who claims she defrauded a UK insurance company after secretly shipping her Lexus RX450h to Nigeria.
Speaking to SaharaReporters, Martin said he first became suspicious when he noticed that the Lexus, which was normally parked at their address in the UK, had vanished. When he confronted Chikere at the time, she reportedly told him her cousins had used the vehicle for a family function.
According to Martin, weeks later Chikere called him in a panic warning that her insurance company might reach out to him. That was when he allegedly discovered she had emailed the insurer claiming the vehicle had been stolen.
Martin said the insurer eventually processed the claim and paid Chikere close to 17,000 pounds. He maintains the car was never stolen and had instead been shipped to Nigeria. He backed his claim with photos of the same vehicle both in the UK and later in Lagos. He described the situation as part of a pattern of manipulation and deceit.
The report also revisits a separate controversy involving Apostle Chikere and her longtime church caretaker in Lagos, Mr Alfred Morris Oyawari. Alfred, who had managed her building projects since 2018 for a monthly pay of forty thousand naira, was arrested after construction materials reportedly went missing.
Martin alleges that Chikere used her influence to prolong Alfred’s detention at Ikoyi Prison, and that his release only happened after his family signed undertakings that prevented him from pursuing legal action.
Apostle Chikere has not commented on the insurance allegations or the case involving Alfred. Martin insists his motivation for speaking out is to warn Nigerians about what he describes as a pattern of abuse exploiting vulnerable people and loopholes in the justice system.
