Former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Zaynab Ngohemba, has spoken publicly about her marriage to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, describing the union as one built on maturity, stability, and a shared commitment to service.
In a statement released by her media aide, David Adeoye, and published by ThisDay, Zaynab said the marriage represents a continuation of two lives already dedicated to public service, rather than a departure from their individual paths. According to her, the relationship is anchored on humility, discipline, empathy, and responsibility.
She noted that personal stability plays a key role in strengthening leadership and deepening commitment to service, adding that their partnership reflects values that are increasingly being demanded by Nigerians.
Adeoye also pointed out that at a time when citizens are calling for sincerity, compassion, and integrity from those in positions of authority, the couple embodies these principles. He said their union promotes a leadership style that balances empathy with authority and views service as a calling rather than a platform.
Zaynab, formerly known as Olori Wuraola, was married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in March 2016. The marriage ended in 2017 after 17 months.
