The National Examinations Council, NECO, has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate of Education SSCE External Examination results, with 68,166 candidates representing 71.63 percent securing five credits including English Language and Mathematics.
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, announced the results on Friday at the Council’s headquarters in Minna. He disclosed that a total of 82,082 candidates, representing 86.26 percent, obtained five credits and above irrespective of subject combinations.
According to him, 96,979 candidates registered for the examination, comprising 51,823 males representing 53.43 percent and 45,156 females representing 46.56 percent. Out of this number, 95,160 candidates actually sat for the examination, with 50,785 males representing 53.36 percent and 44,375 females representing 46.63 percent.
Professor Wushishi revealed that 9,016 candidates were booked for various forms of examination malpractice, an increase from the 6,160 cases recorded in 2024. He noted that this represents a 31.7 percent rise.
Providing a subject by subject breakdown, the NECO Registrar stated that 73,167 candidates sat for English Language, out of which 58,425 representing 78.32 percent scored credit and above. In Mathematics, 85,256 candidates sat for the examination, with 77,880 representing 91.35 percent achieving credit and above.
He also disclosed that five supervisors were recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting examination malpractice. The supervisors include two from the Federal Capital Territory and one each from Kano, Adamawa and Ondo states.
In addition, four examination centres were recommended for de recognition after being found culpable of whole centre malpractice. Two of the centres are located in Niger State, while Yobe and Kano states recorded one each.
Professor Wushishi urged candidates who sat for the 2025 SSCE External Examination to check their results on the NECO official website, www.neco.gov.ng, using their examination registration numbers.
