The father of the prime suspect arrested in connection with the killing of a woman and her six children in the Dorayi Chiranchi area of Kano has shocked the public by asking the Federal Government to execute his son instead of keeping him in prison.
The victims, identified as Fatima Abubakar and her children, were attacked inside their home in Dorayi Gidan Kwari. The incident triggered widespread outrage, with many Nigerians calling for full prosecution of all suspects linked to the case.
President Bola Tinubu condemned the killings over the weekend and ordered a thorough investigation into what he described as a painful and unacceptable tragedy.
Speaking during a radio interview, the suspect’s father, Mallam Auwal, openly disowned his son and said he should not be kept alive at public expense. He described his son as useless to society and insisted that swift justice should be carried out.

“What he committed against my younger sister and her six children, my wife’s younger sister and her co wife is condemnable. I distance myself from him. I do not want them to waste time on prosecution. Umar and his likes are supposed to be eliminated. They are not supposed to be remanded and fed with taxpayers money.”
The grieving father went further to commend the police for their handling of the matter, saying he had already sacrificed his son emotionally and would not attend court proceedings. He also revealed that Umar’s mother would not attend the trial either.
Police investigations are still ongoing as authorities work to establish all persons involved in the crime and prepare the case for prosecution.
