Babcock University Bans Dreadlocks, Sleeveless Tops, and Baggy Pants in New Dress Policy

Babcock University has issued a new directive tightening grooming and dress rules for students ahead of examinations. The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Vice President for Student Development Olanivi Arije.

One major change is the cancellation of the popular “hair pass” permits which students previously used to justify certain hairstyles. The university said the hair pass system is now illegal and will no longer be recognized on any campus. The statement added that the use or circulation of hair passes ends immediately.

The new rules will take effect at the start of the second semester in January and the institution has made it clear that enforcement will be serious. Students who still have hair pass tags have been told to discard them because anyone found using or presenting them may face disciplinary action.

For grooming, male students must keep their hair neat and avoid dreadlocks heavy beards or any hairstyle considered excessive. Female students are advised to avoid extreme or inconsistent hairstyles.

The dress guidelines also forbid body hugging outfits sleeveless tops sagging trousers baggy or overly long pants and scarves tied to academic wear. Traditional and casual outfits such as bubu danshiki joggers sportswear and walk out outfits are also restricted during certain academic periods.

Babcock University stressed that all students must comply and warned that ignorance will not be accepted as an excuse. The updated code has already sparked conversation about discipline campus culture and how private universities regulate personal appearance.
