Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has surrendered to authorities in Lagos after being accused of rape and other offences that police say could threaten public order. The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the development, noting that the matter has now been escalated to the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for a deeper investigation.
According to police sources, Okafor was expected at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti on Monday but failed to appear, despite being summoned the previous day. Lagos Police Commissioner, Olohundare Jimoh, said an arrest order was issued after the missed appointment. The pastor eventually presented himself on Tuesday.
Jimoh disclosed that the allegations had already been under review at Zone 2 for roughly three weeks. Since the AIG has jurisdiction over the zone, the case was returned to his command for procedural continuity. He added that several complaints had surfaced online from alleged victims, and ignoring them could undermine public trust and security.
The controversy erupted in December 2025 when social media was flooded with accusations against Okafor. Nollywood actress Doris Ogala was among those who spoke out, alleging a prolonged sexual relationship dating back to 2017, broken promises of marriage, explicit content shared without boundaries, and personal fallout that affected her previous marriage.
As public outrage intensified, Okafor reportedly knelt before his congregation on December 28, 2025, asking for forgiveness. In church circles, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is said to be deliberating disciplinary steps, and Okafor has stepped aside from his pastoral duties for now.
Police authorities say security arrangements have been made for the alleged victims, while operations continue simultaneously at SCID Panti and Zone 2.
Okafor’s decision to surrender comes amid an active arrest order and mounting public pressure as the allegations continue to dominate online conversations.
